The Verso Foundation document, which is the framework for Verso’s vision, mission, core values and principles, continues to guide our everyday decisions. It aligns our entire organization with one vision and one voice, keeping us focused on the things that matter most.
Among these is respecting a balance among economic, environmental and social needs. Beyond our business strategy, we focus our broader sustainability efforts in four key areas.
- CARING FOR PEOPLE: Being “safe from the start” is not simply a priority at Verso. It tops our list of core values, because nothing is more important than our employees’ safety. We also take pride in being a good corporate citizen, fulfilling our responsibility to do what we can to promote healthy, thriving communities where we work, live and play.
- USING RESOURCES RESPONSIBLY: We strive to go above and beyond legal and regulatory requirements to protect and conserve healthy forests and other natural resources for future generations.
- MANUFACTURING EFFICIENTLY: We use wood fiber, water, energy and other resources efficiently and manage our operations prudently to prevent pollution.
- SERVING OUR CUSTOMERS: We‘re always looking for innovative ways to help our customers meet both their emerging business needs and their sustainability objectives.
Verso acquired NewPage Holdings, Inc. in January 2015. The information provided in our 2014 Sustainability Report, One Vision, One Voice, represents the new Verso Corporation. With our sights set on continuous performance improvement, the combined 2014 data from our predecessor companies sets a new baseline against which we’ll measure our sustainability progress.
