Examples

Convert 326 meters to kilometers.

Base to kilo conversion:
Since kilometers are larger than meters,
divide the number of base units by the decimal factor (1,000)
 
Calculation:
326 m ÷ 1,000 = 0.326 km


Convert 17.5 grams to centigrams.

Base to centi conversion:
Since centigrams are smaller than grams,
multiply the number of base units by the decimal factor (100)
 
Calculation:
17.5 g × 100 = 1,750 cg
