More Information

Example

Find the MSI and MSF for a roll of 70 lb Book paper with a roll weight of 909 lbs.

Formula - MSI:
(Roll Weight) × (Basis Area) × 144 = MSI
(Basis Weight) × 1,000

Round MSI to the nearest whole number

Formula - MSF:
(Roll Weight) × (Basis Area) = MSF
(Basis Weight) × 1,000

Round MSF to three decimal places

Equations:

Example 1: MSI:

909 × 3,299 × 144 = 6,169 MSI
70 × 1,000

Example 2: MSF:

909 × 3,299 = 42.840 MSF
70 × 1,000
